Thought to be extinct after the Tsunami on the 26th Dec 2004, 20 years ago. Recently rediscovered during the recent influx of Indonesian shells into the market. The locality is in Siberut Island off West Sumatra, Indonesia in the Indian Ocean side of Indonesia.

Still a very rare shell, a valid species that is very different from its sister species, the T. pyrum.
