Formerly known as Amphidromus pervariabilis. However, Amphidromus pervariabilis was subjective synonym of Amphidromus’ dautzenbergi. Therefore, the earliest named species is considered valid.
In the article “Convergent evolution of Amphidromus-like colourful arboreal snails and phylogenetic relationship of East Asian camaenids, with description of a new Aegistohadra species (Helicoidei: Camaenidae: Bradybaeninae)” , April 2022 by Parin Jirapatrasilp,Chih-Wei Huang, Chung-Chi Hwang,Jirasak Sutjarit and Chi-Tse Lee shows that despite their deceiving conchological similarity, some of these East Asian arboreal snails do not belong to the genus Amphidromus.
DNA and data analyses revealed that former ‘Amphidromus’ dautzenbergi belong to Aegistohadra Wu, 2004 (subfamily Bradybaeninae Pilsbry, 1934)
