A new species for the family Ariophantidae.
“The name is derived from the Belirang- Beriti volcanic complex, within which the known range of the species occurs. ‘Belerang’ also means ‘sulphur’ in Indonesian, reminding one of the pale yellow-brown base colour of the shell” – citation from decription text.
The closes known relative is Hemiplecta abbasi. These snails are only found in humid mossy areas near small bushes and not at the forest. Special acknowledgement to David P. Cilla for the beautifully written description after 2 years of painstaking data collection and John Abbas for his continuous contribution to the research and study of beautiful Indonesian molluscan fauna.
