This species is widespread in the Indo-Pacific, from Eastern Africa (Madagascar, Mozambique, Tanzania) to Southern Japan and Melanesia. It lives on sandy bottoms with seagrass meadows, in intertidal and shallow subtidal areas to a depth of about 10m.
