Description

Dead but still in nice condition, collected circa 1980s but the late Mr. Chua Kim Soon. This species comes with an interesting story. I first got the specimens from the Chua family, whom my dad was a close friend and I have never seen such a species before so I engaged in my friend Jeff Parsons to get it described. A very long process as it took a few years but Jeff writes a really good description of a species and very thorough research so I can safely say that this is a valid species and apparently, none have been found since. All specimens are old collection from the 70s and 80s and all belong to the Chua family as this. This specimen is one of the paratypes and proceeds from sales will go to the widow of the late Mr. Chua Kim Soon whom this shell is named after. He is an enthusiastic shell collector and worked for years in North Borneo in the longing business where apparent these specimens came from (details from his daughter Sheila Chua). They are also of mixed parentage of Chinese and Portuguese blood as their mother is of local Portuguese decent (another interesting story of the history of Melaka but that is not related to this shell). We will start with a low 50e and a priceless specimen like this the sky’s the limit. You can get it at a bargain or make a price for it. Only 10 specimens that we have sold before and we have only 3 specimens left. This species comes in sinitral and dextral.
