This species was described for the first time by Sowerby based on a shell of unknown origin, but most likely collected near Bustard Bay and brought back by Captain Cook. A dead specimen. This species inhabits a wide range, delimite by Townshend Island in the West to Lady Elliot’s Island. Aptly named, really a beautiful species.
