Welcome to our New Year 2025 list and a very happy and successful 2025 for all of you!

We start this year with this wonderful and beautiful list of fantastic landsnails or landshells or what we like to refer to as Terrestrial Gastropods.

The golden age of the Terrestrial gastropods or at least when I began interested in them is during the late 2000, I met with the King of the Indonesian Terrestrial Mr. John Abbas. A truly wonderful and remarkable man that I still keep in touch with. He taught me everything about terrestrial snails, I need to give him full credit for it. I was an avid cone or general seashell collector, until I was exposed to the awe-inspiring world of the terrestrial shell collection, particularly the beauty of Amphidromus and Asperitas species.

Many new species were discovered and named. I was lucky to have some named after my family member courtesy of John too. I got into real details and interest in them, and I have an encyclopaedia for free if you want to learn and ID them. As much as I can I put useful information on them to help with the ID and learning.

A bulk of sellers from first Vietnam and Indonesia starting to sell many specimens in the market, with China leading the way as prominent buyers. In China, the Terrestrial collection ranks numero uno despite worldwide, the #1 rank goes to the cowries. And the Amphidromus collection ranks #1 in the terrestrial market. As rumour goes, a seller in Vietnam was able to fund the building of his house in cash by selling Amphidromus.

There is somewhat of a decline in the demand lately in these past couple of years. Even a previous supplier of mine, told me that he stopped because the price is too low for them to collect it. And post-Covid, there has been a surge in the market for jobs in SEA, especially with the trade war, South East Asia has been the +1 for many companies to set up their operation away from China.

Thus with the low prices caused by these sellers flooding the market in the past and less people interested in gathering them, the supply is starting to plummet and we will soon see that these interesting species that were once readily available, start being scarce again and only available through old collections.

Along with the call for conservation and fast destruction of the forest, fresh specimens may disappear altogether.

Coming back to this list, we have carefully selected the best of my limited stocks. Especially a set of Amphidromus adamsii, which I can’t get anymore and offered at a great new year price! I hope that your terrestrial collection will be enhanced by these special specimens!

Enjoy the list!
