Description

self-collected near summit, under leaf litter in the forest, Aug 2019. These interesting snails are giants among the pupinids; some large species have been discovered lately but this species remains iconic since it’s discovery. The babies look like cyclophorus without the lip; which I did not collect as I want to keep strictly to the ethics but I have this series of specimens which displays the lip formation. Also interesting is that they develop the operculum as they grow their lip and fully formed adult have a thickened lip about 5mm. The shell also gradually thickens as they mature. This is the only one which I collected in a series.
