An iconic species from central Peninsula Malaysia. A giant among the pupinids. Named the Elephant pupina for good reason. A species which I have been searching for for years. Finally found a population at a small limestone hill, at a housing area. Difficult to climb and not very common at the habitat.

They live around the limestone rocks that gathers leaf litter. Most probably feeding on the dentritus under the dead leaves. They have small pittings at their last whorl, when you find them alive, it has dirt stuck to these pittings. Maybe some sort of camouflage? I have seen predation on this species, most probably monkeys using the hard rocks to crack them open and eating them. There are many monkeys around the area. Either monkeys or birds but most probably monkeys. The animal has orange / red tentacles.
