The “Girgyllus Star” is a spectacular representative of genus Bolma, which contains many exiquitely ornamented turbinids. The yellow spines resemble lightning patterns, and hence its Japanese name “Lightning Turban” and Chinese name “Lightning-God Star”. – From Chong Chen’s post

This species occurs in the Pacific Ocean off the Philippines, the Moluccas, Taiwan and Vietnam.
