Often confused with the turturella. However in my personal experience they exist in similar locations but I hardly see them being caught together (maybe different habitat?). In South East Asia turturella are eaten in huge quantities (locally called gong-gong in Singapore & Malaysia) and I have only noticed one single canarium in all my years eating and seeing them mixed with the catch of tuturella.

There is also differences in the shell structure, turturella are more fusiform then the canarium (more globular) and there is never a pattern on the tuturella (uniform brown). Tuturella also grows relatively larger, and I suspect that some of the giant (over 100mm) record size canarium are actually tuturella.
