Apparently described as a subspecies of the Saffron cone of the Pacific Ocean, the Thailand cone appears to be endemic to the Andaman Sea mostly in Phuket. It clear difference is the very wide shoulders compared to the slimmer pacific cousin.
Our good friend the famous Mr. Jom Patamakanthin told us apparently that the sting of this cone is highly toxin and there have been known deaths from the sting (unsubstantiated reports). It is a rare species, not caught in recent times. Most specimens traded are from old collections. A highly desirable species with a handsome look; a classic rarity in its own rights.
