Cancellariidae are seasnails with shells are adorned with a cancellate sculpture on a portion, or all of the shell. Cancellarioidea inhabit mostly subtidal to bathyal depths in tropical to temperate regions. The cancellarioidean species live on sand and muddy substrates. Some rare and unusual species exist, among them the famous Trigonostoma milleri, Burch, 1949 which has unusual disconnected whorls.
