Babyloniidae was formerly placed under buccinidae (whelks) but based on shell morphology, geographical distribution and more recently, molecular studies have placed them in their own family. Shells beautifully patterned in most species and many are widely eaten as delicacies. The snail is predatory and I have observed them eat carrion in my aquarium. Probocis is extended and pieces of meat are swallow whole.
