New Caledonia is a place producing some spectacular shells; among the most famous are Niger & rostrate cowries, rare and beautiful volutes and somehow species endemic there are always rare and beautiful. To get the best shells from there it is advisable to visit Caledonian Seashells owned by our friend Vincent Crayssac. The marmoreus are very variable and smaller in size here. Some are very dark to very white (albino). Different form names have been given to describe them from their pattern such as this one.
