Superficially looks like the Captain cone but it is far smaller and found in deeper water, found from Japan to the Philippines, Taiwan, and in New Caledonia. This species is normally found between depths of 20-60 m, but has a reported depth range of up to 500m It most likely lives in sand and mud. Adults of the species will grow to approx 40 mm although they will typically be less than this.
