This species has an Indo-Pacific distribution. It can be found from Japan to Vietnam and in Northern China Seas. It prefers fine sandy substratum at depths of 10~50m. Most specimens now originate from trawling activities in the South China Seas. Easily recognizable for the beautiful axial striped pattern. Maybe confused by P. muangmani which has a similar range but shell structure and pattern is different.
